This isn’t because, if trying it on with you doesn’t work then they might be able to have some success with your friends (although…). What it really means is that they will subconsciously perceive you as worth talking to since you’re surrounded by others.

Skip this sort of thing when you want someone to find you attractive. Studies have shown that people prepared to get deeper, earlier, will make a connection.
That’s not to say you should ask if they want kids before the entree arrives!
