Folic Acid Deficiency (folate deficiency) happens when there is insufficient amount of folic Acid or vitamins B9. Folic Acid is highly needed by the body for maintenance of the blood cells and to also manufacture and repair DNA.
Folic Acid can be gotten from a regular healthy diet but a deficiency may occur due to poor dietary habit or if the body isn't absorbing folate. Folate deficiency may occur if Folic Acid containing foods are not included in your diet, such as green leafy vegetables and natural citrus juices.
Folate deficiency can also occur as a result of some diseases which hamper the absorption of Folic Acid in the body may can be as a result of excess alcohol.

SYMPTOMS OF FOLIC ACID DEFICIENCY INCLUDE;

  • Fatigue 
  • Mouth sores
  • Irritability 
  • Grey hair
  • Growth problems 
CAUSES OF FOLIC ACID DEFICIENCY ARE;

  • gut diseases
  • Certain medications 
  • Certain blood disorders 
  • Excessive consumption of alcohol 
  • Low level of Folic Acid consumption 
TREATMENT 

Folic Acid Deficiency can be cured by taking vitamin B9 supplements for a period of time until the problem is resolved. A supplement regime should be accompanied by a healthy diet rich in Folic Acid foods such as beans, avocados, citrus fruits. 
It is crucial for a pregnant woman to include extra Folic Acid in her diet. And also Folic Acid supplements are recommended to be taken for a longer period of time, for any person that suffer from any disease that interferes with its absorption
