2015: Key Pieces
And just like that, another year is out of the window. We’ll look back fondly on 2014 with the rise of the lumbersexual, longer than longline lengths, Zayn Malik’s ever-changing locks and David Beckham always bringing his A-game.
Enough of the reminiscence though, friend, a new year is upon us and
what better way to weather the storm of January (and invest any
post-Christmas cash) than with a look ahead to what you will be wearing
in 2015.
To kick-off our 2015: Sorted series, our Design Director and Fashion Editor have cherry-picked the three essential items that will see you through the next 12 months in style.

A term borrowed from our friends over in womenswear, 'co-ords' refers to 'coordinating' or 'two or more printed pieces that match' in layman's terms. Nabbed from the catwalks – see Italian megabrand Prada and the Paris-based dandyisms of Dries van Noten – co-ords can be a minefield. Invest in at least two matching pieces and wear head to toe for a strong sartorial statement. Bit much? Break 'em up with some neutrals. We’re talking a plain oversized T-shirt or bomber jacket, black formal trousers for colder climes and plain, smart shorts for when summer comes knocking.

Think of the slip-on plim as your smart shoe replacement. Cribbing from the classic Vans slip-on shape (introduced into the high-fashion vocab by brands such as Givenchy), these plimsolls' new, ultra-luxe textures give a formal tee and trouser combo an athletic edge. Likewise, a silver and black woven pair underscores the smart sport looks doing the rounds, while iridescent, oil-slick plims give the classic check shirt / indigo jeans get-up an in-the-know finish.

This is an easy one to adopt: consider swapping a knitted tee for your standard cotton and team it with some sharp black trousers and the new slip-on plim for a smart/casj vibe. Alternatively, stick to your streetwear guns and layer an oversized, sheer stripe version over a longline white T-shirt and pair with tailored joggers. Feeling formal? Slip a short-sleeved knit over a starched white shirt, finish with some slim-line smart trews, polished Derby shoes and boom, 2015 is yours for the taking.
