Different Mindset Between Successful People And Everyone Else
What’s the most valuable thing you own?
Is it your house? Is it your car? Is it your phone?
It’s none of the above.
The most valuable thing you own is your time.
Where you invest your time today will determine the life you lead tomorrow.
One of the biggest difference I see in the mindset of people who are successful and those who simply dream without progress is where they invest their time and money. Whether it’s a financial investment or a time investment, the most successful people I know are very careful and wise about where they spend their resources.
This mindset is what differentiates consumers and hustlers:
Benjamin Franklin once said that Time is Money, and it’s hard to argue with that idea.
We’ve all heard the stories about lottery millionaires blowing their cash away. Most blow their cash because they decide to spend their money on stuff rather than making an investment.
But it’s not just millionaires.
When most people get a bonus, they spend it on drinks at the bar. When most people buy their first home, they buy one bigger and more expensive than they need. When most people buy a car, it’s one that they don’t actually need.
But, it’s no big deal – that’s what the credit card is for…
That’s the consumer mindset. The mindset that credit card companies pay millions to marketers to help create. To a hustler – this mindset is absolutely insane.
When Elon Musk made $180 million from the sale of PayPal, he ended up investing all of it into Tesla, Solar City and SpaceX, each company receiving double the capital he had planned to invest.
He had to borrow money to pay his rent.
In 2010, Elon Musk, now considered the closest thing to the real life Tony Stark, was called Broke and Paper Rich, by the New York Times. When in reality, he was rich, he was simply investing in his companies, his dreams and himself.
Hustlers invest in their dreams.
Hustlers invest in their skills.
Hustlers invest in their future.
Hustlers invest in relationships.
In a nutshell:
Hustlers invest their time where they’ll get the most return. Everyone else invests their time where they’ll get the most short term satisfaction – fun, pleasure, stimulation and attention.
What investment are you going to make this week to help your future? What investments have you made recently? If you’ve always wanted to be your own boss but wasn’t sure where to start
